Former Clinton aide has trouble naming Hillary’s accomplishments as secretary of state

Former Clinton White House counsel Lanny Davis was put on the spot last week, when he was asked to summarize Hillary Clinton’s accomplishments as secretary of state. He couldn’t name a single one that made any sense.
Davis, who also appears frequently as a Democratic contributor on Fox News, was a guest on the “Hugh Hewitt Show” when he was asked about Clinton’s successes.
“Well, the biggest thing of all is goodwill around the world, which is what secretaries of state do,” Davis said.
That was a pathetic answer. Goodwill and respect for the United States has declined since President Obama assumed office and Clinton became secretary of state — especially in the Middle East. The interview continued:

Hewitt: Like in Syria…
Davis: I don’t know what any secretary of state…
Hewitt: …and Egypt and Libya?

Bam! Hewitt went right for the jugular on that one. When Hewitt asked about Clinton’s role in Syria, Egypt and Libya, Davis said:

Davis: I don’t know, well, Libya and certainly the intervention in Libya and getting rid of Qaddafi, you would say that’s a pretty good achievement for the President. But these are presidential achievements with a partnership of the secretary of State. What do secretaries of State do? For example, she was very instrumental in the details of the Iranian sanctions program, which has produced, apparently, some results. I’m very skeptical about this deal in Iran on the nuclear weaponry. But the credit she deserves on this sanctions program, which literally was her program in the State Department to enforce, but in partnership with Barack Obama.

Those, I assume, would be the same sanctions the Obama administration threw out and doesn’t want Congress to re-introduce. Clinton also announced her support for the decision in a letter released by Senate Armed Services Chairman Carl Levin, D-Mich., Roll Call reported Monday.

Davis wasn’t quite done with his stuttering attempt to give Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state.
“But this doesn’t change the question about the secretary of state having achievement,” he said. “This a secretary of state is the most popular woman in the world and restored relations with everyone in the world.”
So, it all comes down to being the most popular woman in the world? That would be a great addition to her resume if she were running for high school student council. But for U.S. president? That seems to be a bit thin.
Then again, it’s no thinner than “hope and change.”
